Suspected cocaine, other drugs seized by police

On April 21, 2021 at approximately 7:12 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the South Porcupine OPP Crime Unit conducted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at a residence in Monteith.

The OPP seized an amount of suspected cocaine, codeine syrup, and Percocet. 

As a result of the investigation, two people were arrested and charged.

Dean Bernier, 43 years of age, of Iroquois Falls has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance - opioid (other than heroin) contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA - two counts
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA and,
  • Fail to comply with release order contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Wendy Emans, 50 years of age, of Iroquois Falls, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA and,
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - opioid (other than heroin) contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA - two counts.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 27, 2021 in Timmins.
