South Porcupine man facing multiple assault with a weapon charges

26-year-old arrested after investigation into recurring assault allegations

The Timmins Police Service has completed its investigation into allegations of assault that had occurred on a recurring basis at a William Street residence during the month of June.

The ensuing investigation centred on the behavior of a 26-year-old male resident of the address.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, the Timmins Police Service sought an arrest warrant for the identified suspect.

The arrest warrant was executed at a Crawford Street address yesterday afternoon and the suspect was taken into police custody.

As a result, Denzel Blackett, 26, of South Porcupine has been charged with:

  • 4 counts of assault with a weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
