Seven arrested in unrelated weekend incidents

Most were wanted on outstanding warrants

The Timmins Police Service arrested a number of local persons over the weekend in separate incidents, on the strength of arrest warrants or based on alleged offences related to conditions imposed by the Provincial Court in Timmins.

While completing general patrols of the downtown core during the afternoon hours of Friday, Dec. 6, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized and interviewed two male parties believed to be the subject of respective arrest warrants.

The men were arrested after the validity of the arrest warrants were confirmed.

As a result, Harry Scott, 43, and Alberto Tomagatick, 37 both of Timmins, Ont., were taken into police custody and held for respective bail hearings where they were released from custody but required to re-attend Provincial Court in Timmins on Dec. 17 to answer to the original charges laid against them.

While completing general patrols of the downtown core during the evening hours of Saturday, Dec. 7, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized and interviewed a male party believed to be the subject of an arrest warrant.

The man was arrested after the validity of the arrest warrant was confirmed.

As a result, Nathan Guillemette-Prevost, 23 of Timmins, Ont., was taken into police custody and held for a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the original charges laid against him.

Additionally, a Timmins Police Service officer was rendering assistance at a call for service during the evening hours of Saturday, Dec. 7, when he recognized an occupant of the residence to be in direct violation of strict conditions issued by the Provincial Court.

The man in question was interviewed by the officer in keeping with the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Mbanjanda Albert, 29, of Timmins, Ont., was taken into police custody and held for a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to four counts of Failing to Comply with Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Additionally, while responding to a call for service during the evening hours of Saturday, Dec. 7, a Timmins Police Service officer recognized a female party as being the subject of an arrest warrant.

The woman was taken into custody once the validity of the arrest warrant was confirmed by the investigating officer.

A quantity of methamphetamine tablet was located on her person during a cursory search after her arrest.

As a result, Chantal Carpenter, 22, of Timmins, Ont., was taken into police custody and held for a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

Additionally, a Timmins Police Service officer was rendering assistance at a noise complaint call for service in the north end of the city during the early morning hours of Sunday, Dec. 8, when he recognized an occupant of the residence to be the subject of an arrest warrant.

The woman in question was interviewed by the officer in keeping with the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Cynthia Nakogee, 32, of Timmins, Ont., was taken into police custody and held for a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins.

Lastly, a male person was taken into custody early this morning on the strength of an arrest warrant at the Timmins Police station.

As a result, Steed Gagnon, 42, of Timmins, Ont., was taken into police custody and held for a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the original charges laid against him.
