Prohibited weapons seized in Moosonee: Police

Prohibited weapons were found by police executing a search warrant in Moosonee. 

On Oct. 1, Moosonee OPP executed a search warrant at a Bay Street address in the remote Northern Ontario community. Two adults and a youth were arrested. Police say many weapons and prohibited weapons were seized from the residence. 

A 46-year-old is charged with two counts of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, four counts of failing to comply with a release order and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. 

The accused is in police custody waiting for a video bail hearing. 

A 32-year-old woman is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. She has been released from police custody and is set to appear in court in November in Moosonee. 

A youth, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. 

The accused has been released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

Along with Moosonee OPP, the OPP tactical unit, emergency response team and critical incident commander helped with the search warrant.

None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
