The Timmins Police Service has charged two persons with a number of Criminal Code and Drug Possession offences stemming from a traffic stop near the intersection of Maple Street North and Fifth Avenue early this morning.
Based on observations made by the officer, two of the occupants were arrested.
A 43-year-old male occupant was found to be in possession of the following controlled substances and currency:
- 3.3g crystal methamphetamine
- 0.4g purple fentanyl
- 5.9g cocaine
- 1.5g white fentanyl
- One hydromorphone capsule
- Three white capsules – unknown content – to be determined by means of technical analysis
- $180 in Canadian currency
As a result of the investigation, Steed Gagnon, 43, of Timmins has been charged with:
- Four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
- Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
- Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Additionally, a 17-year-old male occupant was found to be in possession of a concealed weapon and has been charged with:
- Carry a concealed weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
All charged persons remain in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the respective charges laid against them.
