Police seize suspected crack cocaine, opioids during investigation in Kirkland Lake

Police say the 44-year-old was breaching release conditions

KIRKLAND LAKE – On June 18, 2021, frontline members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a person breaching their release conditions.

The accused was located and the investigation revealed that they were in possession of drugs suspected to be crack cocaine and opioids. As a result, Michael Davis, 44 years-of-age, of Kirkland Lake, was charged with the following: 

  • Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - opioid, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA 
  • Breach of conditional sentence order, contrary to section 742.6 of the Criminal Code (CC) 
  • Driving while under suspension, contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (Four Counts)

The accused was release on a Judicial Release Order and is scheduled to appear before The Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on July 8, 2021.
