Police seize over $2,800 in suspected cocaine, meth in Hearst

On March 16, 2022, at approximately 10:45 a.m. members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and members of James Bay Detachments OPP, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Highway 11 West, of the Town of Hearst. 

A search of the residence led to the seizure of suspected Cocaine, suspected Methamphetamine, Drug Trafficking Paraphernalia, and Canadian currency. The value of the drugs seized is believed to be over $2,800.

As a result of the investigation Stephane Godbout, 44 years old from Hearst was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking - Methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA (Two Counts)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Failure to comply with release order - Other than to attend court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC

The accused person was held for Bail Court and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
