Police seize almost $80K worth of fentanyl, crystal meth

The Timmins Police Service has charged two persons with a number of Criminal Code and Drug Possession offences stemming from an intensive drug investigation undertaken by the Timmins Police Service – Drug Enforcement Unit.

The investigation culminated with a traffic stop undertaken late yesterday afternoon (15 Dec) on Hwy 101 near Bob’s Lake, east of Porcupine. The traffic stop led to the arrest of two persons from Mississauga.

Pursuant to the arrests, officers with the Timmins Police Service located and seized the following exhibits as evidence:

  • 58.1 grams of purple/fentanyl, estimated street value $ 34,860
  • 22.7 grams of Blue/fentanyl, estimated street value $ 13,620
  • 9.1 grams of Grey / fentanyl, estimated street value $ 5,460
  • 43.4 grams of crystal methamphetamine, estimated street value $ 26,040
  • Over $5000 in Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation, Kadeem Ramessar, 28, and Desiree Leduc, 28, both of Mississauga, have been charged jointly with:

  • Two count each of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • One count each of possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Ramessar has been further charged with an additional count of fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada Both charged persons remain in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at provincial court in Timmins to answer to the respective charges laid against them.
