Police seize $37K of suspected meth, fentanyl

MOOSONEE - At approximately 9:32 a.m. on June 9 2021, members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police arrested an individual in relation to a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation.

A subsequent search led to the seizure of what is suspected to be methamphetamine and fentanyl, with an estimated street value of approximately $37,000. 

As a result of the investigation, Katherine Edwards, 36-years-of-age from Moosonee was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Adult possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA,
  • Adult Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Timmins on June 102021.
