Police respond to altercation in vehicle on Highway 11

TEMISKAMING SHORES - On Sept. 3, 2021 shortly before 4:00 p.m. members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a domestic situation on Highway 11 in the City of Temiskaming Shores.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle was northbound on Highway 11, when an altercation took place between two parties resulting in one being assaulted. 

Further investigation revealed that the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages and was arrested. The accused was transported to Temiskaming Detachment to conduct further tests.

As a result of the investigation a 23-year-old resident of the Township of Armstrong, is charged with:

  • Assault - spousal, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC
  • Failure to comply with undertaking, contrary to section 145(4)(a) of the CC

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date, in the City of Temiskaming Shores. 

The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
