Police are turning to the public for help after a vehicle was stolen and set on fire earlier this month.

July 1 sometime after 10:30 p.m., Cochrane District Crime Stoppers say a black, four-door 2012 Mitsubishi was stolen from Crescent Avenue in Timmins.

"Later that evening the fire department responded to a vehicle fire in a sandpit off of Highway 655," reads the Crime of the Week.

"Once the fire had been extinguished all that remained was the frame and tire rims. The firefighters and police were able to make out the license plate and in that discovered the vehicle had been stolen."

Anyone with information about the crime should call 1-800-222TIPS (8477) or visit P3tips.com.
