Person charged with stunt driving in Temiskaming Shores

Police say the driver was going 150 km/h in a posted 90km/h zone

TEMISKAMING SHORES – On Sept. 29, 2020, shortly after midnight, a member from the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting stationary radar patrol on Highway 11, near West Road in the City of Temiskaming Shores. A northbound vehicle approached the officer's location, travelling in excess of 150 km/h in a posted 90km/h zone. 

The 27-year-old driver from Scarborough, was charged with Stunt Driving - Excess Speed contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The vehicle was impounded and the drivers licence has been suspended for seven days. 

The driver was released by way of a Court Summons and is scheduled to appear at court on Nov. 12, 2020, in the City of Temiskaming Shores.

Aggressive driving, including speeding, is one of the leading causal factors in traffic deaths in OPP patrolled areas.
