Person charged for allegedly using tablet while driving

Police remind drivers to focus on driving when behind the wheel

On April 27, 2021 at approximately 11:22 a.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police observed a driver of a commercial motor vehicle using a tablet device while operating a CMV in the Town of Hearst.

As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old person from Niagara Falls, was charged with:

  • Adult drive - hand held communication device, contrary to section 78.1(1) of the Highway Traffic Act

The driver of the CMV was issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

Distracted driving results in deaths and injuries on our highways. Focus on driving when behind the wheel.
