Pedestrian accused of throwing rock at vehicle on Highway 655

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a Criminal Code offence stemming from an incident that occurred in the area of Highway 655 during the early evening hours of Monday, Aug. 16.

A complaint was received by the Timmins Police where a male pedestrian was observed throwing a rock at a vehicle passing by causing severe damage to the vehicle’s windshield.

The driver of the vehicle managed to safely bring the vehicle to a halt on the shoulder of the roadway. The total damage to the vehicle is estimated to be $1000.00. Responding Timmins Police Service officers located and arrested the suspect based on the description of the event provided to them by the vehicle driver.

As a result of the incident, Benn Gage, 46, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Mischief under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at provincial court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against him.
