Over $2K in cocaine, crack cocaine seized in Kirkland Lake

A 45-year-old faces multiple trafficking charges

KIRKLAND LAKE — On Aug. 4, 2022, The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), executed a search warrant at a residence on Main Street in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Police seized Canadian Currency, drug paraphernalia and drugs suspected to be cocaine and crack cocaine. Total street value of the seizure is estimated to be over $2,000.

As a result, Michael Maurer, 45 years-of-age, of Kirkland Lake, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Crack Cocaine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on Sept. 15, 2022.
