OPP vehicle rear-ended on Highway 11 near Smooth Rock Falls

SMOOTH ROCK FALLS - On Feb. 28, 2020, at approximately 10:40 a.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting traffic control on Highway 11, west of the Town of Smooth Rock Falls, Ont.

The officers were conducting traffic control due to a tractor-trailer being disabled on the eastbound shoulder of the highway. Both officers within the police vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries when an eastbound passenger vehicle rear-ended the police vehicle.

Shortly thereafter, approximately 100 metres west of this collision, one tractor-trailer rear-ended another. Both drivers were uninjured. 

The OPP's Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team with the Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) are currently investigating the police vehicle collision.

The highway is still closed at this time.
