OPP seize methamphetamine during Temiskaming Shores traffic stop

TEMISKAMING SHORES - On Dec. 6, 2020 shortly after 12:30 a.m., members from the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Lakeshore Road South in the City of Temiskaming Shores.

Further investigation revealed that the passenger was wanted on a warrant from a previous occurrence and was arrested. The driver was found to be in possession of suspected controlled substances.

As a result, Dennis McPhee, a 57-year-old resident of Kirkland Lake, has been arrested and charged with:
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) (two counts),
    •    Operate unsafe vehicle, contrary to section 84 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and
    •    Operate a motor vehicle without insurance, contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA).

The accused was released by way of an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Jan. 12, 2021 in the City of Temiskaming Shores.
