OPP renew call for help in Moose Factory death investigation

Police believe the November 2023 death is the result of a fail-to-stop crash between a vehicle and pedestrian

MOOSE FACTORY - Police are renewing their call for witnesses in a death investigation.

On Nov. 7, 2023, around 3 a.m., Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) responded to a call for an injured person on Jaban Street in Moose Factory. Loni Chum, 21, was found with life-threatening injuries and later died at the hospital. 

The death is believed to be the result of a fail-to-stop crash between a vehicle and pedestrian, said James Bay OPP in a news release. 

The open case is under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

"Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information is urged to come forward. Every piece of information, regardless of how insignificant it may seem, could be crucial," said police.
