OPP investigation leads to break and enter charge in Kirkland Lake

On Aug. 19, 2020, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter at a business on Duncan Avenue South in the Town of Kirkland Lake. 

As a result of the investigation one person has been arrested and charged.

Joshua Galarneau, age 29, of Kirkland Lake, has been charged with the following:

  • Break, enter a place - commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC,
  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime, contrary to section 355.2 of the CC, and
  • Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on Aug. 24, 2020.
