One charged with shoplifting $2500 worth of goods in Kirkland Lake

KIRKLAND LAKE - Members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to shoplifting incidents on Jan. 31, 2020, and Feb. 3, 2020, from a local business on Government Road West in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ont.

On Feb. 5, 2020, the Kirkland Lake OPP crime unit, The North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and members from the Temiskaming OPP Detachment, executed a search warrant at a residence on Arnold Drive in the Town of Temiskaming Shores, Ont.

As a result of the investigation police recovered an estimated $2500 worth of stolen items and one person has been charged.

Andre Leveille, age 47, from Temiskaming Shores, Ont., was charged with the following:

  • Theft under $5000 (two counts), contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 (two counts), contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC.
