MOOSONEE - On Jan. 2, 2021, at approximately 11:50 p.m. members of the James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic dispute in Moosonee.
As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old person, from Moosonee, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Adult assault - spousal, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC), and
- Adult fail to comply with probation order, contrary to the Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code (CC)
The accused has been remanded into custody pending a bail hearing, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
The OPP will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
