One charged after dispute gets physical at Cedar Street building

The Timmins Police Service has investigated an evening disturbance that occurred yesterday (Feb 28) resulting in two persons being assaulted at a Cedar Street North building.

The Timmins Police Service responded to the occurrence where a female person entered into a verbal dispute with two other female occupants of the building that escalated to the point where the suspect struck both victims.

The responding Timmins Police officers were able to identify, locate, and arrest the female suspect a short distance from the scene. The suspect actively resisted being arrested but was eventually taken into custody.

As a result, Vanessa Wynne, 23, of Timmins has been charged with:

  • Two counts of assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Resist peace officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at provincial court in Timmins to answer to the charge laid against her
