Man with suspended licence charged in Kirkland Lake: police

OPP say officers spotted the person known to not have a valid licence driving on Tuesday

KIRKLAND LAKE - On March 8, 2022, frontline members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on general law enforcement patrol in the Town of Kirkland Lake when they observed a person, who is known to not have a valid driver's licence, operating a motor vehicle on Poplar Avenue.

A traffic stop was conducted and the investigation confirmed that the driver's licence was under suspension for a Criminal Code offence.

As a result, Kevin Summerfield, 47 years old, of Kirkland Lake, has been charged with two counts of Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code, contrary to section 320.18(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 21, 2022, in Kirkland Lake.
