Man facing number of charges after break-in

Police say the suspect was caught breaking in and was confronted by a building occupant

The Timmins Police Service has charged a person with break and enter related offences stemming from an incident that occurred during the evening hours of Friday, Jan. 22 at a Pine Street South building in Timmins.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a call for service where a suspect had forcibly gained entry into the building with a crowbar.

The suspect was discovered committing the break-in and was confronted by a building occupant.

The suspect fled on foot but was located and arrested by the Timmins Police a short distance from the crime scene.

Quantities of various drugs, ammunition, and weapons were located on the suspect’s person and among his personal effects during the arrest.

As a result of the incident, Steven Longpre-Lipchick, 34, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Break and enter with intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of break-in instruments contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Carry a concealed weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 5 counts of possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
  • 3 counts of fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 3 counts of possession of ammunition in violation of a prohibition order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • 3 counts of possession of prohibited weapon in violation of a prohibition order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The suspect remain in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
