A man who was held captive managed to escape and call for help, say Timmins Police.
The incident happened the morning of Friday, Feb. 2 at a residence in the south end of the city. Timmins Police say they received a call where a 34-year-old man had been assaulted and held captive before escaping and calling police.
The suspect was arrested later that day at the residence.
A 49-year-old man from Timmins is charged with assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, uttering threats, failing to comply with a release order, and theft under $5,000.
The accused was released from police custody at a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 8.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
