Man charged with theft, possession of stolen property

It stems from two separate incidents

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local person with theft related offences stemming from separate incidents; one of which occurred in March of this year and the second incident having taken place early yesterday morning at two separate convenience stores in Timmins.

The Timmins Police responded to an incident where a man known to police attended at an Algonquin Blvd convenience store and left the premises without making payment for a pain relief medication and a package of tin foil.

The suspect fled on foot with approximately $32 worth of stolen items. The responding Timmins Police officers were able to identify the suspect and seek out and obtain an arrest warrant for him in relation to this event.

The same suspect attended at a Schumacher convenience store early yesterday morning (27 May) with a female accomplice where they proceeded to steal $140 worth of pop and chocolate candy.

As a result of the investigation by the Timmins Police Service, the suspects were identified and located and arrested yesterday afternoon.

As a result of these incidents, Noel Metatawabin-Nakogee, 30, of Timmins, has been charged with: 

  • Two separate counts of Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Two separate counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.  
  • Two separate counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.

Additionally, Erica Linklater, 29 of Timmins has been charged with: 

  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

She has been released from police custody on the strength of an Undertaking requiring that she attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on Aug. 25 to answer to the charges laid against her.
