Man charged for breach of probation after yelling at passers-by

The Timmins Police Service arrested a Timmins resident stemming from an incident where the suspect was found to be in breach of a set of strict court imposed conditions listed in a set of Probation Orders during the afternoon hours of Friday, Jan. 1.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a disturbance in the area of Cedar Street North and located a man who was using profane language and yelling obscenities at passers-by.

The man was arrested and found to be in possession of an edged weapon.

The responding Timmins Police officers completed an investigation into the matter and determined that such activity was in violation of strict conditions imposed upon him by the Provincial Court in Timmins.

As a result, Barry Godin, 46, of Timmins was taken into police custody and is charged with:  

  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • Fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the criminal charges laid against him.
