Man charged after vehicle ditched near Englehart

MARTER TOWNSHIP, ENGLEHART - On April 28, 2021 shortly after 7:30 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for a single motor vehicle collision on Marter Road, in the Township of Marter. 

Preliminary investigation revealed that a motorist had been travelling on Marter Road when it lost control and struck the ditch.  

Police attended and located the driver a short distance from the scene, on First Street in the Town of Englehart.

The driver was known to be prohibited from driving Canada-wide and was subsequently arrested. 

Alan Forbes-Lalonde, a 46-year-old resident of McGarry Township, is charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code (CC), contrary to section 320.18(1)(a) of the CC (three counts),
  • Fail to remain, contrary to section 200(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and
  • Driving while under suspension - section 53(1) of the HTA.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date in the City of Temiskaming Shores.
