SMOOTH ROCK FALLS - On Jan. 17, 2021 at 8:42 a.m. members of the James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for assistance with a combative patient at the Smooth Rock Falls Hospital.
As a result of the investigation, Shawn Kukela, 51 of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was arrested and has been charged with:
- Resist peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC, and
- Causing a disturbance, contrary to section 175(1)(a) of the CC.
The accused was released from custody after a bail hearing and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on April 29, 2021.
