Man charged after downtown window shattered

An estimated $1,500 of damage was done to the building, say police

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal  Code offences stemming from an incident that occurred at a Third Avenue office building during the noon hour of Sunday, April 18th.  

A complaint was received by the Timmins Police where a male subject was observed causing damage to the building’s window by kicking it until it shattered and then fled on foot. 

The subject was positively identified, located and arrested later that same day. The total damage to the building is estimated to be $1,500.

The subject was brought to local hospital by the police for medical treatment for a laceration to his foot that resulted from his actions.  

As a result of the incident, Andrew Wesley, 41, of Timmins, has been charged with: 

  • Mischief Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 
  • 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at Provincial  Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
