The Timmins Police Service has investigated a disturbance that occurred yesterday morning at an Algonquin Boulevard strip mall retail outlet.

Based on the investigation, it was determined that a male suspect, who is known to police, entered a specific store and, based on previous disruptive behaviour, was directed to leave the establishment by staff members.

The suspect refused to comply and proceeded to make assaultive gestures towards the staff and threw a packaged item at one of them narrowly missing her.

The responding Timmins Police officers located the suspect in the strip mall parking lot and completed the arrest without incident.

As a result, Adam Porter, 43, of Timmins has been charged with:

  • Two counts of Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody for the purposes of a bail hearing slated for today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
