Man arrested after police respond to disturbance

The Timmins Police Service arrested a Timmins resident stemming from an incident where the suspect was found to be in breach of a set of court imposed conditions listed in his release order.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a disturbance at a Cedar Street South residence on Saturday, Jan. 2.

The responding Timmins Police officers completed an investigation into the matter and determined that one of the persons involved was in violation of a number of strict conditions imposed upon him by the Provincial Court in Timmins in December of 2020.

The Timmins Police Service has determined that breaches of the court imposed conditions regarding a curfew and the possession of a weapon had in fact taken place.

A weapon and a quantity of a controlled substance were located on the subject’s person.

As a result, Demetrious Farrell, 21, of Timmins was arrested and taken into police custody.  

  • Three counts of fail to comply with release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada  
  • Possession of a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the criminal charges laid against him.
