Man allegedly points gun while driving vehicle in Schumacher: police

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with Criminal Code firearms offences stemming from an incident that occurred today at approximately 11:30 a.m. near the intersection of Aura Lake Road and Father Costello Drive in Schumacher. 

Reports of a man pointing a firearm while driving a passenger vehicle in Schumacher were received by the Timmins Police. 

The incident led to an altercation between the suspect and other residents in the immediate area. 

The suspect fled the scene in his vehicle.  

Responding Timmins Police Service officers located the vehicle in question and performed a tactical arrest of the suspect. 

A weapon was retrieved by the Timmins Police in the course of the interaction with the suspect. 

Based on the outcome of the incident, a 25-year-old male suspect from Schumacher has been arrested and charged with a number of Criminal Code offences. 

The accused person remains in police custody in order to attend a bail hearing slated for tomorrow morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him. 

No persons sustained injury during the incident.  

The Timmins Police Service deem this to be an isolated incident and are in the midst of completing their investigation at present.  

A follow up Media Release with a detailed list of charges will be distributed at a later date.
