Man accused of stealing beer from Algonquin Boulevard grocery store

A 31-year-old from Timmins faces theft, possession of property obtained by crime charges

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with theft related offences stemming from an incident that occurred on Monday, March 22 at an Algonquin Blvd grocery store in Timmins.

A Timmins Police Service officer responded to a call for service yesterday at a local grocery store regarding a suspicious person who had been observed concealing six 6-packs of beer on his person while in the store.

The responding officer confronted the male suspect a short distance from the store and found him to be in possession of the stolen beer and placed him under arrest for theft.

As a result of the incident, Alex Leblanc, 31, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

Leblanc remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for today at provincial court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
