Man accused of causing $500 worth of damage to Third Ave. business

The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from a series of incidents that occurred on Third Avenue during the afternoon hours of Saturday, Aug. 29.

A complaint was received by the Timmins Police where a loitering male subject had been asked to vacate a local place of business. As the man exited the store, he willfully caused damage to the door window resulting in $500 damage.

The subject was positively identified but fled from the scene prior to the arrival of responding Timmins Police officers. The subject was located a short while later and taken into custody by the Timmins Police Service.

As a result of the incidents, Andrew Wesley, 41, of Timmins, has been charged with:

  • Mischief under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two counts of fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused was released from police custody at a bail hearing on the strength of an undertaking compelling him to attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on Nov. 10 to answer to the charges laid against him.
