Kirkland Lake teen charged with stunt driving

The driver was going over 180km/h in a 90km/h zone, police say

TEMAGAMI – On July 15, 2020, at approximately 10:30 a.m., an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Temiskaming Shores Detachment was conducting stationary radar patrol on Hwy 11 near Jessie Lake, Temagami. A southbound vehicle approached the officer's location, travelling in excess of 180 km/h in a posted 90km/h zone. 

The 18-year-old driver from Kirkland Lake was charged with stunt driving - excess speed. She has been released on a summons to attend court on Oct. 1, 2020, in Haileybury.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the drivers licence has been suspended for seven days. 

Aggressive driving, including speeding, is one of the leading causal factors in traffic deaths in OPP patrolled areas.
