Kirkland Lake resident accused of trafficking meth

KIRKLAND LAKE – On Aug. 12, 2020, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a report of drug trafficking on Pollock Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Police seized drugs suspected to be methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $2500.

As a result, Mitchel Pilon, age 29, of Kirkland Lake, was charged with the following: 

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA),  
  • Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code (CC); and 
  • Cultivate, propagate, or harvest more than four cannabis plants, contrary to section 12(4)(b), of the Cannabis Act (CA).

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on Oct. 8, 2020.
