Kirkland Lake resident accused of assault, uttering threats during dispute

KIRKLAND LAKE – On Nov. 17, 2020, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a dispute at a residence on Algonquin Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

The investigation revealed that an assault had taken place and that threats were made.

As a result, Cory Lautaoja, age 37, from Kirkland Lake, was charged with the following; 

  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC); and  
  • Assault, contrary to section 266 of the CC.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, on Jan. 7, 2021.
