KIRKLAND LAKE – The Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has received numerous complaints about snowmobiles speeding on the roadways and trespassing on private properties in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Officers regularly conduct patrols and enforcement in the municipality, however, during the month of February 2021, they will be specifically focusing on engaging, educating and when required conducting enforcement on operators of snowmobiles for violating the Highway Traffic Act, Motorized Snow vehicles Act and any other pertinent laws.

Staff Sergeant Ryan Dougan, Detachment Commander of the Kirkland Lake OPP advises "Everyone operating a vehicle on the roadway are expected to do so in a lawful and responsible manner. Focused Patrols are another tool that we use to ensure that we are providing the best service possible to our community."
