Kirkland Lake man charged with break and enter

Police say the accused was attempting to break into a residence when he was confronted by the occupant

KIRKLAND LAKE - On July 4, 2020, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an unwanted person at a residence on Pollock Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Further investigation revealed that the accused was attempting to break in and was confronted by the occupant.

As a result, Aaron Gauthier, age 27 of Kirkland Lake, has been charged with the following:
    •    Break, enter a dwelling - commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
    •    Fail to comply with probation order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC.

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on Aug. 13, 2020.
