Kirkland Lake man accused of resisting police

KIRKLAND LAKE - On Nov. 11, 2021, frontline members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a person causing a disturbance on Government Road East in the Town of Kirkland Lake.

Officers located the individual responsible for the disturbance. The accused ran from police and was taken into custody a short while later. The accused continued to resist during the course of the arrest.

As a result, Blair Landrry-Simpson, 27 years of age of Kirkland Lake, has been charged with:
    •    resist peace officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
    •    flight from peace officer, contrary to section 320.17 of the CC
    •    mischief, contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the CC

The accused was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Dec. 23, 2021, in Kirkland Lake.
