Kapuskasing woman arrested after allegedly dropping cocaine in front of police: OPP

Police say the person flagged down police on Sheppard Street in Kapuskasing before dropping a small amount of suspected cocaine into the police vehicle

KAPUSKASING - On Jan. 14, 2021 at 12:35 p.m. a member of the James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol and was flagged down by a person on Sheppard Street in Kapuskasing.  

During conversation with police, the person dropped a small amount of suspected cocaine into the police vehicle.

As a result, Laura McCauley, 54 years old, of Kapuskasing was arrested and has been charged with:  

  • Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on March 8, 2021.
