Iroquois Falls resident charged in Nipigon investigation

A total of three people are facing charges after a months-long police investigation into break and enters

An Iroquois Falls resident is facing charges after a series of break-ins in northwestern Ontario. 

The Nipigon OPP investigation into break and enters in the Nipigon area started in August. Three people are facing charges.

"The success of this investigation speaks to the professionalism, dedication and ingenuity of an investigative team that takes pride in serving the community. A substantial number of stolen items have been recovered and efforts are being made to return the items to its rightful owners," said Detective Sgt. Curtis Peckford in a news release.

Devon Nemes, 30, of Nipigon is charged with: 

  • Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Five counts of failing to comply with release order
  • Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
  • Two counts of possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

Caitland McConnell, 27, of Iroquois Falls is charged with fraud under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Robert Morrow, 64, of Nipigon is charged with possession of property obtained by crime. 

None of the charges have been tested in court. Police say the accused have been remanded into custody and are waiting for a court date in Nipigon.
