A Hearst resident is facing additional charges, including manslaughter, in relation to the suspected overdose death of a teenager last year.

OPP and paramedics were called to a Highway 11 residence west of Hearst around 4:15 a.m. Sept. 26, 2020, after 16-year-old Fanny Vaillancourt was found unresponsive. She later died in hospital.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, James Bay OPP has charged 25-year-old Casey Lacroix with manslaughter, and four counts of trafficking a Schedule 1 substance (MDMA/ecstasy).

These are in addition to the original charges of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of other Schedule 1 drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused has been held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in Cochrane court Jan. 20.
