A teen is facing a slew of charges after being stopped by police driving a vehicle with a "number of mechanical issues".
In the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 23, Timmins Police officers pulled over a vehicle in the Pine Street South area.
The vehicle had a number of mechanical issues, according to police, and when an officer tried to pull the vehicle over the driver failed to comply at first.
A 16-year-old from Hamilton, who can't be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with:
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Drive motor vehicle – fail to surrender valid permit
- Drive motor vehicle – improper headlights
- Drive motor vehicle - improper muffler
- Drive motor vehicle – no licence
- Use plate – not authorized
- Drive motor vehicle – fail to stop
- Drive motor vehicle - improper muffler
- Drive motor vehicle – no insurance
The accused was released from police custody after a bail hearing and has another court date on Oct. 23.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
