Group of teens accused of throwing eggs slapped with COVID fines

Police say a group was throwing eggs at other vehicles, residences and businesses in Cobalt and the City of Temiskaming Shores

TEMISKAMING SHORES, COBALT - On the evening of Jan. 23, 2021, members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received numerous calls for mischiefs in Cobalt and in the City of Temiskaming Shores.  

Preliminary inquiry showed that individuals in vehicles were throwing eggs at other vehicles, residences and businesses.

A short time later the vehicles were located parked on Highway 65 E, in the City of Temiskaming Shores and all occupants were arrested.

William Bennett, a 19-year-old resident of Thornloe, has been charged with:

  • Mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code (CC) (13 counts), and
  • Individual - Fail to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order, contrary to section 10(1) of the Reopening Ontario Act.

Kyle Borgford, an 18-year-old of James Township, has been charged with:

  • Mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code (CC) (13 counts), and
  • Individual - Fail to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order, contrary to section 10(1) of the Reopening Ontario Act.

Emilie Lisiecki, an 18-year-old of Iroquois Falls, has been charged with:

  • Mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code (CC) (13 counts), and
  • Individual - Fail to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order, contrary to section 10(1) of the Reopening Ontario Act.

Jonathan Peddie, an 18-year-old of Casey Township, has been charged with:

  • Mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code (CC) (13 counts), and
  • Individual - Fail to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order, contrary to section 10(1) of the Reopening Ontario Act.

Justin Robert, a 19-year-old resident of Armstrong Township, has been charged with:

  • Mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code (CC) (13 counts), and
  • Individual - Fail to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order, contrary to section 10(1) of the Reopening Ontario Act.

Alexandre Sauve, an 18-year-old of Temiskaming Shores has been charged with:

  • Mischief under $5,000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code (CC) (13 counts), and
  • Individual - Fail to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order, contrary to section 10(1) of the Reopening Ontario Act.

The accused were released by way of an undertaking and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on March 2, 2021, in the City of Temiskaming Shores.
