Four face drug, weapons charges following 'altercation' in Kapuskasing

KAPUSAKSING - On July 4, 2020 at approximately 6 p.m., the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an altercation on Dallyn Avenue in the Town of Kapuskasing.

Police investigation revealed that the incident also involved dangerous driving, as well as a controlled substance and four persons were arrested for various offences.

Police seized suspected cocaine, a weapon, drug paraphernalia and Canadian currency all with a combined estimated street value of $7,500.

The OPP James Bay Criminal Investigations Unit, the James Bay and Northeast Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit (PAFU) all assisted with the investigation.

Patrick Fehr, 38 years old of Kapuskasing, has been charged with the following offences:
    •    Assault with a Weapon contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
    •    Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 CC,
    •    Dangerous Operation contrary to section 320.13(1) CC,
    •    Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) CC,
    •    Trafficking in Schedule I Substance - Cocaine contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), and
    •    Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) CDSA.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on Sept. 28, 2020, to answer to the charges.

Alexandra Powers, 24 years old of Kapuskasing, has been charged with the following offences:
    •    Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine contrary to section 4(1) CDSA, and
    •    Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on Sept. 28, 2020 to answer to the charges.

Shawn Robineau, 37 years old of Kapuskasing, has been charged with the following offences:
    •    Assault with a Weapon contrary to section 267(a) CC, and
    •    Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine contrary to section 4(1) CDSA.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on Aug. 10, 2020, to answer to the charges.

Jackson Malenfant, 26 years old of Kapuskasing, has been charged with the following offences:
    •    Assault contrary to section 266 CC, and
    •    Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Cocaine contrary to section 4(1) CDSA.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on Aug. 10, 2020, to answer to the charges.
