Five arrested in Temiskaming Shores drug trafficking bust

TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON - On Sept. 16, 2020, members of the North East Region (NER) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a Drug Search Warrant on Lakeshore Road North in the City of Temiskaming Shores. 

Once inside the residence, the officers located and seized a quantity of suspected Purple Fentanyl, Crystal Methamphetamine, Methamphetamine tablets, and Morphine pills with a street value of approximately $5,407, and over $905 in cash.

As a result of the investigation, five accused have been arrested.

Joshua Chief, a 36-year-old resident of Temiskaming Shores, is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance - Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

Joey Vandette, a 25-year-old resident of Temiskaming Shores, is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance - Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

Kayla Doire, a 29-year-old resident of Cobalt is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance - Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA (two counts).

Kelly Harvey, a 44-year-old resident of Temiskaming Shores, is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance - Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA (two counts).

Brenda Sears, a 51-year-old resident of Temiskaming Shores, is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA (two counts),
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA (two counts), and
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000 - in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).

All accused were released on an Undertaking and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on October 27, 2020, in the City of Temiskaming Shores.
