Local food bank volunteers are putting out a call for assistance in regards to restocking shelves that are starting to show a need for replenishment.

In response, Brenda Beaven is coordinating a needed response for the Timmins Police Service.

In short, “It’s Food Drive time again!!”

The local Food Banks have indicated they could use a little help.

Let’s see what we can do to put some meals on the tables of the less fortunate in our community.

A challenge has been issued involving Timmins Police Service, Timmins Fire Department and Cochrane District EMS.

Let’s show the others how we can kick butt when it comes to helping our community as a whole.

Beginning Monday, May 3 we are going to begin collecting non-perishable food items.

Full permission is given for you to to go ahead and raid your cupboards, go shopping, or do whatever it takes, and bring the non-perishable food items in to the Training/Parade room.

Winners will be our Food Banks and the community of Timmins.

Once a tally is complete, Timmins Police personnel will have bragging rights once again over “the hose draggers” and the “ambulance drivers”
