Woman brought to hospital after vehicle hit by train: police (UPDATED)

A woman has been brought to hospital after a crash involving a train and passenger vehicle in Connaught, according to Timmins Police.

The crash happened around 11:40 a.m. at the Frazer Street railway crossing. A Toyota Venza was struck by a 39-car freight train, said police.

Police say the 51-year-old woman who was driving the vehicle was extricated by firefighters and brought to Timmins and District Hospital. She was conscious at the scene and her injuries are being determined. 

The vehicle has been towed from the scene and the Timmins Police Traffic Section is investigating.

Traffic in Connaught has returned to normal.
